A beautiful and great sounding kit
I bought at the request of a percussionist in the Moravian Filharmonie. I travel there next week to record a disc of my orchestral music and am bringing their percussionists some gear that they can’t get easily in the Czech Republic.

I ordered a Ludwig Super 70's in Glacier Blue Pearl. The kit arrived quicker than expected. The hoops were raw ans supposed to be black. Drum Center contacted Ludwig. Ludwig reached out directly to me and made the correction with no Hassel at all. Fantastic Custer service on both ends. I later ordered a tiny little tom 6x8 to match the kit for some flavor, it arrived as expected and fits in perfectly with the rest of the kit.
100% Positive Review for this product. Please Sabian, don't allow any stickers/labels with it's stickiness left upon the head! This is the only thing that was not good!
Great coated head. Good response with either sticks or brushes. I play mostly jazz and the occassional classic/rock pop gig with R&B thrown in the mix.

II like a firm seat for balance purposes. I've been disappointed by several throne tops I've tried because they've been too soft and don't provide stability. The DW seat top feels comfortable and is firm enough to provide stability.

Mapex has paid great attention to detail with this kit, down to the packaging. Arrived in heavy boxes with double wrapped shells and custom foam inserts to protect everything. The chrome is good quality. All the hardware is well thought out. Memory locks are included. The Scarlet Fade finish is a little blah but is beautiful just the same. The Walnut interiors are a nice touch. Comes with Remo Emperor heads, nice. Thin shells and no re-rings if that's your thing. Hardware inside the drums is minimal with single attachment at the lugs with shiny dark fasteners. Looks sharp I think. They sound like drums to me with perhaps a little more fundamental than a kit with thicker shells or reinforcement rings. My only gripe is that the floor tom legs on the 14" were about two inches too short. I made an extension for the feet out of PVC. Happy with the kit!
Very nicely made bag. Bag dimensions are "14x20", but I was relieved to find that just enough additional room is added to accommodate bass drum spurs (on the width) and the hoops and lug hardware (depth).
