Well, it’s a bass drum beater. I wanted to replace the dual sided beater that came with my FP 9500 D. This obviously does that. I like the build. It has a slightly smaller beater head, which gives a bit more attack with a little less weight. It’s a good beater choice if you’re looking to replace yours.
I'm breaking them in on a Pork Pie B.O.B. snare drum. It is a natural fit. Wide snares on a black brass shell. A match made in Heaven. Trying both straps and cord, I prefer the controllability on the cord. The wide wires really make the whole drum more responsive. Fatback is alive and well.
This was not the cymbal I came in for, but they were out of stock. I was shown this Meinl Pure Alloy 12” Trash China instead. It was exactly what I was looking for from a sound perspective. It’s an excellent effects cymbal and holds its own in heavy grooves as well. I’m a forever Meinl drummer, and honestly love the feel and presence of Meinl cymbals, and this one does not disappoint. Add this to your kit, you won’t regret it!!
I’m a right handed drummer using (2) 22” bass drums tuned differently in a standard, right hand setup kit. This right side bass is soon to be replaced by a 24”. For now, the right side bass is tuned lower and more open sounding w/ single pedal. Left side bass tuned higher and tighter sounding w/ double (left hand) pedal. Both drums complement each other and play patterns together very well w/ more depth & sonic texture. I love having the ability to rely on the lower tone and thunderous sound from my right bass for most of what I play while also being able to access a clearer, punchier sound that supports having two beaters on it for well defined, articulate playing or simply play that left bass w/ my right foot as a single in music that just needs that sound. The entire Pearl Eliminator Redline setup on my kit feels great, makes no noise and is highly customizable. I can highly recommend it Along w/ Drum Center of Portsmouth!

I bought a cool used Gretsch kit that had lost it's tom holder.

i had a slingerland drum kit in the early to mid 70's so i knew what to expect and, it deliver's 100%. although it wasn't a radio king, it was still top of the line slingerland at the time...tons of volume and tone for days, and gorgeous looks-just like this new snare. i'm thinking of buying one of those calf skin heads and nickel over brass hoops(top and bottom) to compliment the sound and aesthetics of this beautiful instruments. thank-you tony and drum center of portsmouth. your drum brother-don fab.
