Compeletely redesigned, the Mapex Black Panther Snare Drum Line has undergone some serious upgrades. Borrowing from the renegade Design Lab series snare drums, there has been some trickle down features that are now found on these new drums, like the Design Lab Air Flow Venting, and the Soniclear Snare Beds to provide enhanced sensitivity. All bearing edges have the Soniclear edge for easier tuning and head seating, and the the Sonic Saver Hoops are standard on all drums.

What is Design Lab Air Flow Venting and the Soniclear Bearing Edge?

One of the amazing elements to playing the BP snare drums is the “feel” of the instrument. The venting is key to the feel and the overall resonance of the shells. Through painstaking testing, each BP snare drum is placed ideal quantity of vent holes leading to the best sound & resonance.

The Soniclear bearing edge allows the drumhead to sit flatter on the shell, making better contact. The result is a stronger and deeper fundamental pitch, effortless and consistent tuning, and a significantly expanded tuning range. For the serious player, the increased head-to-edge contact increases shell vibration, allowing the sonic nuances of the hybrid shell to stand out.
