The Evans Orchestral Timpani head has been designed with moderate pre-tension for better seating and precise tuning. Its relatively thin ply of 7.5-mil film gives you direct pitch along with pristine sustain. The tone opens up right away from the softest mallet strike, and stays true, even at high volume levels. The durable steel insert ring is powder-coated to protect it from the elements, and provides a strong, thin bearing edge for the head, which makes tuning and seating much easier.
