The synthetic fiber coating adds a little bit of extra focus to the sound, and give a vintage look to your drum kit. The Evans Calftone is a single ply bass drum head, made with one 12-mil ply and a special synthetic fiber top layer that's designed to have the look and sound of calfskin, with an added boost to mid and low frequencies. These heads produce a slightly warmer sound than other bass drum heads, while still retaining some brightness to the attack.
